Interesting building and some plants outside. First time I know how Laksa leaves look like.

M.Zuiko 25mm F1.2 Pro Test Shots at Peach Garden
Got a nice second hand copy of the lens and went for a quick test shot. Incredibly sharp but the shallow depth of field is something I still need to learn how to play with.

Lunch at Corner House
Thanks to wife I got to celebrate my birthday with a lunch at the Corner House. The service is impeccable (including the buggy ride because of the rain) and food was splendid. There was also ample supply of soft, warm bread to provide the necessary calories.
Nice ending with a cup of tea.
SATS Premier Lounge
I have to catch a flight at 9.20am and left home very early to avoid the jam to the airport. I would have grab a quick breakfast if not for a complimentary access to the lounge, blessing from the DBS Altitude card. This card came with a priority pass with two complimentary access to many lounges all over the world (see here). In fact, there are quite a few travel friendly credit cards that provide lounge access as well (see here). However, as far as I’m concern, I still prefer the Altitude over the rest because its annual fee can be waived if a minimum amount is charged to the card per year. At 25,000, it is quite doable if all the combined family expenses are charged to it. So the travel benefits and air miles really comes with no additional cost.
Anyway, here’s what I enjoyed for free.
Lunch at The Line
I heard several good recommendations about The Line Restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel but never had a chance to try it till today.
First the seafood and cold dishes
Next, the meat.
The Indian section, my favorite.
Then the Laska
Finally, the desserts
Overall experience, food is food, spread is great but come at a cost.
Lunch at Indochine, Gardens by the Bay
With kids in school, my wife and I found time to have an early valentine’s day lunch at Indochine, Gardens by the Bay. There’s a minimum spending of $80 per pax but I wonder how the restaurant will enforce this.
Lemongrass cream of mushroom
Tom yam lobster broth with asian herbs
Roasted lemongrass french corn-fed chicken
Steamed lemongrass cod & tiger prawn
Garden salad
Tropical fruit platter
French raspberry cheese cake
Lunch at PeraMakan
There are always many excuses to have a good lunch. Today, we went to the PeraMakan at Keppel Club to celebrate a successful project closure.
Beef Rendang
Nonya Pork Ribs
Nyonya Chap Chye
Ikan Garam Assam- Fillets of red snapper in spicy Garam Assam gravy, served with ladyfingers & brinjals.
Otak otak Makanan Laut- Unique to PeraMakan, fish, squids & prawns in a rich spicy paste, grilled on a kunyit (turmeric) leaf.
Itek Tim- Salted Chinese mustard stewed with pork trotters and duck in a rich broth.
Bakwan Kepiting- Minced pork balls filled with bamboo shoots and crab meat in rich pork & chicken broth.
Durian Chendol
Bubor Cha Cha
Christmas dinner @ Azur, Crowne Plaza Changi Airport
This is my second time at Azur but the first time for Christmas dinner. But most surprising is seeing the sashimi and a quick check with NEA website provides the assurances.
Usual seafood selection
Meat selection
Salad station, my favorite.
Noodle station
Simple carbo
and Christmas special pastries
And fruits
The food is nice but the selection is quite limited for the price.
Lunch at Sabio by the Sea
This is my first trip to Sentosa Cove. I had long heard about the restaurants and wanted to explore them. Finally, found time to sample one with my wife.
Interesting layout and decorations
There’s many drinks, mainly wine which not quite what we can take. So we just settle for simple ones. Next up, the hot tapas.
Calamares a la Plancha- Pan-fried calamari
Champinones al Ajillo- Garlic mushrooms
Verduras a la Parrila con Aceite de Oliva- Mixed grilled vegetables with extra virgin olive oil
Gambas- Grilled red leg prawns served with miso mayonnaise
Atun a la Parrilla- Grilled tuna steak served with chachouka
After the lunch, we had a nice stroll back to the car park.
The food is nice, just too little calories for me… as usual.

Lunch at Old Street Bak Kut Teh, Kallang Wave Mall
Had a quick lunch at Old Street Bak Kut Teh at Kallang Wave Mall. The food is good and after all the soup, I didn’t really felt thirsty like typical bak kut teh elsewhere 🙂
Lunch at Café&Meal MUJI
I thought MUJI was just a clothing store until I realised it had a Cafe as well. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was IKEA :). There were plenty of options to choose from as well (click the link for the menu).
For high calories dependents, I need the 4-Deli set- basically rice with 4 side dishes.
3-Deli Set: Vegetables Omelet, Spinach Chicken Hamburger and Beet Root and Watermelon Salad.
Healthier choice of rice is available.
4-Deli Set: Vegetables Omelet, Spinach Chicken Hamburger, Colorful Vegetable Gratin and Sakura Chicken & Pasta Salad with Lemon Flavor; plus Roasted Tea Pudding
Besides the food, the decoration is of the simple cafe was also quite unique.
