Huayi 2018- Chinese Festival of Arts, held during the Chinese New Year festive period is a series of events not to be missed. The Revelry in Spring is a dance performance by the NUS Chinese Dance troupe. I am very impressed my the standard of performance!
Another must go event with my family during Chinese New Year.
Finale with a better fireworks this year.
With all a very Happy Chinese Year and better year ahead. Huat ah!
Every year during Chinese New Year, there will be a slew of performances all over Singapore. Today, I took some time to attend the performance by Anhui Performing group at Suntec City.
According to the MC, they had a very hectic schedule, having 6 performances in various schools before performing at Suntec City! Kudos to them for keeping up the standards and great performance!
I purposely choose to come down during a weekday to avoid the crowd. If not, my wife and I will have to carry our kids through the crowd.
My kids are happy to see their favorite playground being exhibited.
And last but not least, the iconic figure that must be around every year.

There are two groups performing at Alexandra Retail Centre (ARC) as part of the Chinese New Year celebration to usher the year of Goat. I chance upon this when I went there for lunch one day and saw the performance by Xuzhou Performing Art Troupe. I came back another day and watched the performance by Hangzhou Performing Art Group.

Went with my colleagues for a Chinese New Year lunch at Miao Yi, a Chinese vegetarian restaurant. Due to the festive season, there are special dishes as well.
Mock suckling pig
Other than these, we ordered simple dishes as well.
Compared to Indian vegetarian, Chinese vegetarian is really meant for those who can tame their mouths, but not their mind. 戒口不戒心。
I seldom have the chance to brave the crowd at night with my young children, and hence not much photoshooting opportunities during the festive season. Instead of night photography, I decided to try a day trip this time. I brought 2 cameras with me, an Olympus DSLR with fisheye lens and a Sony NEX with a portrait lens.
Some fun with fisheye.
When it comes to street photography, I still prefer the more discreet mirrorless cameras.
The low profile is also good for taking pictures of things that I am interesting in taking pictures but not buying.
And what is Chinese new year without the goodies.
Last but not least, wish all Chinese a very happy lunar new year ahead! 马年行好运，新年快乐！
